Dynasty Warriors 6 Chibi figurines (Diao Chan & Zhang Liao)

After Dynasty Warriors 6 was released, chibi figurines of a few select characters were also released in two volumes. For those who live in the U.K they were offered as a pre-order bonus on GAME.co.uk of Dynasty Warriors strikeforce (PSP). Zhang Liao was part of Vol 1. and I got him for free when I pre-ordered the game, Diao Chan is part of Vol.2 and I bought her for about £10 on Ebay.

These chibi figures are very small, so unless there is chibi of your favourite a character then there’s not much point in getting one. They are very cute, epically ones of pretty tough looking warriors! They are squeee worthy! The detail put into the figures is actually really good considering their small size! Diao Chan  particularly very bright and colourful, so if she is one of your top characters, at such a cheap price then I recommend buying it.

Isn’t he cute?! (Sorry about the rather crooked image, just my bad photography skills!)  I am most impressed by the detailing on his armour! Being so small I would have guessed he would be simply painted grey, but in fact all the indentations are present. His expression is also very nice, just the mix of him looking so tough and angry on a chibi figure is really appealing!

Overall score: 6/10

The reason I have scored them quite low is basically just because of their size. I would LOVE a large scale figure of a Dynasty Warriors girl, maybe next time though! If you love the games and the characters, since they’re so cheap just get one! 😀

p.s I will be getting the Chibi Kunoichi Figure from Samurai Warriors 3.

Final Fantasy X 1/6 scale Rikku

Any collector of Final Fantasy figures will know that the collection from Kotobukiya are highly sought after. Since it was so long ago these figures were actually released, they have only grown in price and popularity, and these days they are quite rare. I paid about $230 on this Rikku figure on e bay, I paid a little extra because she was a brand new unopened, untouched figure, even the box was in perfect condition. These figures are quite hard to get a hold of, I would say e bay is the best way if you have your sights set on one of them. Even if the figure is opened, as long as it is in good condition and comes with a box then go for it. 🙂

(I only own the Rikku, Lulu and Yuna figures of this series, but I will supply reviews and pictures of all of them in due time!)

So, here is a full picture of my lovely Rikku. With being 1/6 scale, she is very large and quite sturdy. I really love the pose and colouring of this figure, they match the character in-game perfectly! This is for sure the best figurine out there that best represents Rikku. There is no assembly required apart from putting her onto the stand. The stand fits perfectly so I can’t complain about that problem this time around. The colours and painting is very accurate from top to bottom.

What I love most about this figure is the amazing detailing and perfection of her face. Yes her facial expression itself doesn’t say much, its just a cutesy smile, but the detail is just beautiful. Even the swirls inside Rikkus eyes are detectable. Yes I know the pricing of this figure is quite steep, but you really are getting what you pay for in this case! I’ve had this figure for maybe..4 years now? And she is still holding out strong, I have also managed to keep the box and packaging  in 100% perfect condition so that one day I can sell her on. If your a big fan and just want the figure to display, then go to e bay and bid on one that is maybe not 100% perfect but still in good condition, this means the price will be much more reasonable.

overall score: 9.4/10

Gothic Lolita Ver. Haruhi

Firstly, I’d like to say I’m not a big fan of Haruhi, and personally I don’t see what the big fuss is about the anime, I wasn’t captivated by it in the slightest. However!, when I saw this Gothic Lolita Haruhi figure I was quite impressed! Mostly because the dress she is wearing is highly detaild and very beautiful. The usual yellow hair-band she wears is replaced with a black one sporting lovely red roses.

Here is a picture of my actual Gothic Lolita Haruhi figurine. On a high note, she is very similar to the prototype which most stores and sellers display! Usually prototypes are of a far higher quality than the actual product which can lead to disappointment when buying online. Online is the only way I can buy figures as the ones I’m interested in are only available in Japan at most times, and that’s why I have a big issue with the prototypes, it makes sense to compare them to the product I have received and let others know what to expect!

Haruhi is very detailed around her dress, showing small creases and frills really created a beautiful effect. Despite this, her face is nothing to be praised, her eyes are dull as if they are just stickers. They aren’t of course, but they just look lifeless, I’m thinking a more interesting expression on her face would have made the figure much nicer. Her mouth is not the best either, it basically looks like a big smudge of red, which of course is supposed to be her smile though it just looks rather strange for the theme of the figure. Perhaps a more cutsie looking pose and face would have been more appropriate?

One thing I really appreciate about this figurine is the engraved plaque on the stand! It just gives the figure this important expensive feel, and really gives it that extra something. The stand itself fit the figure perfectly and I had no problem fixing the actual figure onto it.

Overall score: 7/10

I really recommend this to big fans of Haruhi! There are many figures of the character out these, but I think this one is worth the slightly steeper price!

Koihime Musou: Karin (Sou Sou) 1/8 scale

I recently starting watching the anime Koihime musou, as far as I am aware it was originally a hentai novel? I’m not really into that sort of thing anyway, but the anime is still . . . borderline hentai!  My reason for watching was the fact that I am a long time Dynasty Warriors fan, and all the characters in this anime are based of a lot of warriors from ancient china who are also featured in DW. The catch is in Koihime Musou they are all girls! I loved watching and trying to guess who is who! When I first saw Karin I knew she was Cao Cao, didn’t like her much at first but she grew on me as I continued to watch.

When i saw this figure it was very near the release date so I decided to pre-order it! When she arrived she looked quite different from the prototype which is shown, the most obvious difference was the face that her lips are painted a bright red colour. I found this quite strange considering she does not wear lip stick in the anime, or the novel, nor is it shown on the prototype! It really puts a downer on such a nice figure.

Apart from the lipstick flaw, nothing else seems to post any problems with me. Her proportions are very good, her face and clothes are very well detailed and painted. Her head is a little big and her face is a little flat, but that usually comes with the territory when buying a figures strictly from an anime. Her stand fitted perfectly, which is rare! usually stand can be quite fiddly and sometimes don’t even fit correctly. The weapon slipped easily into her hand and is very secure.

I knew full well when I was buying the figure that you had the options to display her with her boobs out! Personally I have no problem with figures displaying nudity as long as I have the option to cover them up, so it didn’t bother me. When putting on her breastplate, there is nothing to fasten it in, which I presumed would be a problem as I thought it would be falling off all the time. I have experienced it falling off a couple times, but not often! On the contrary it seems to hold up quite well, which is a plus for me!

Let me know if you have any questions about this figure. :]

Score: 6.5/10It seems like a low score yes, but she’s just not my favourite figure, she is lovely and defiantly a must for any big Koihime Musou fans!

First Review! Lineage II Elf

Well for my first review, I decided to go for my latest figure, The Lineage II Elf. When I saw the prototype for this figure I was blown away at how amazing it looked, however upon reading information on the creators, a lot of people were wary of purchasing her because often Orchid Seeds prototypes are far higher quality than the actual product. In a risky move I decided to pre-order her anyway, coming in at £90. This figure has now been released.

This is the photo of my actual figure. As you can tell, she is not as perfected as the prototype. Even so, I expected low quality, but I was pleasantly surprised when she finally arrived. The detailing in her face is excellent, the painting for her lips was very slightly inaccurate, but overall I was very pleased.

This figure can be taken apart and re-assembled so that you may display her with or without her skirt and jacket. As you can see I display her without the jacket, but with the skirt, but that’s just my personal preference. Taking her apart was quite tricky, her arms, head and chest all come apart. This positive thing is that when she is reassembled, the locations where she is separated are hardly noticeable.

The problem I had with this figure was the stand. The stand itself is quite nice, however even now I have trouble getting her to fit onto it, its as if it was faulty. Like most figures she has holes in her feet where the stand fits, however i felt those holes were too small, and spaced too far apart for the figure. I cannot seem to get the nooks from the stand to fit all the way into the feet, which means she is a little unbalanced and comes away from the stand quite easily.

As you can see I have also displayed my figure with her “Staff”. she comes with an optional sword, which I really didn’t see the point in as it does not fit so well with the character, just because the staff is of matching colours where the sword is not. It was also very difficult to fit the staff into her hand, and actually the staff is VERY sharp!

overall score: 9/10
