Lineage II: Dwarf

The Lineage Dwarf is the second installment on figures from Orchid Seed taken from this game, coming after the Elf. Currently it is unknown if there will be any more figures from this game, personally i hope there will be because both figures have caught my eye so far. When I first saw the Dwarf I felt she didn’t really look like a “dwarf” too me, i imagines some short stumpy looking this, but this is not the case. As mentiones in my previous post “Horror Story” actually recieveing this figure in one piece was a huge hassle, defenitly the figure that has given me the most trouble.

As you can see, the colour scheme of this figure is quite different from the released prototype. The most notable example of this is her hair, in reality the hair is a rather strong bright pink, but in the prototype it is shown to be quite pale. I’m not sure why that is, but Orchid seed are known for being quite misleading with their prototypes. Despite this the figure is still very beautiful, I have mentioned before that I love a pink girly figurine. I adore the sweet pink candyfloss lolita dress, I feel it is very original in figure terms. Everything about the way she is dressed screams “cute baby doll” which i love, one of my favourite parts of this figure would have to be her sweet little ankle socks accompanied by pink doll shoes. This figure also has the worlds most beautiful stand.
The Lineage Dwarf sports a pair of pink puffy bloomers which are removable, this takes me to a very important point. When she was opened there is a thin plastic sheet cannot be removed until the bloomers are removed, and removing those bloomers was extremely difficult. It took me a long time to get them off and all my strength, while also being extremely careful as not to break her. This is one of the most fragile, hardest to handle figures I have ever come across.

Sorry for my bed photography, I seem to have taken this picture at a strange angle. I do find her head and hair to be at a rather strange angle itself but displaying her the correct way should keep that from annoying you. The detail of the face is well done, I can’t complain of any bad pain jobs or smudges, I feel the facial expression is pretty plain but it suits the pose well.Overall score: 7.0/10
The score has been lowered due to the difficult joints and detachable pieces.

Misaka Mikoto Swimsuit Ver.

I myself have never watched the anime Misaka Mikoto is from, but i know it is very popular. There are many figures of Misaka floating around but none of them have really caught my eye before this one from Kotobukiya. However, this figure holds the status all us collections hate: EXCLUSIVE. This figure is exclusive to orders from a Japanese magazine called Dengeki through mail-order. I don’t live in japan, so my only option was to order her from eBay, which i did. The problem with eBaying exclusive figures is the price will have shot up to two or three times higher than the original. Misaka came in at around $120.

The first thing that attracted me to this figure was her cute frilly bikini accompanied by girly polka dots. There is a second version of this figure in a tight blue tankini though personally i feel that this one is far sweeter. Misaka herself is very tiny, with the figure being only a 1/8 scale without a stand or being overly detailed. Overall she is very simple, however i find this to be her appeal as her subtle detailing can be appreciated more this way. As far as assembly goes there was none required apart from setting her onto her frog which balances her.

The facial expression on this figure is very sweet, I can’t really comment on whether it is true to the character or not because i’m not really sure. Either way, I love her slight smile dressed with a slight pink blush on her cheeks. She almost looks as if someone is about to take her photo. Despite being so small the figure is obviously very detailed and the paint has been done very well as i can find no smudges or imperfections on this cutie.

Overall I find the only negative point of this figure is her small size, however i feel this is made up for with the high quality of detail and painting.

Horror Story!

Hey guys! I thought i’d share with you a little figure horror story that happened to me haha. Maybe not so much a horror as a story of someone reeeeeally unlucky. Before i start I just wanna say i buy all my figures from eBay and this is the first time this has happened,most sellers are reliable. ^_^

This all took place at the begining of 2011. Long before valentines day i knew what i wanted as a gift from my boyfriend:Lineage II Dwarf figure. He agreed and pre-ordered me the figure months early. The seller i had bought from did not actually have the figure on her release date and I had to wait until he had her in stock. A few weeks after valentines day my dwarf finally arrived and i was sooo excited! This is what i got….

Yep, broken. I was very upset and messaged the seller straight away. The first reply i got was him offering to take $30 off the price if i keep it. NO WAY. I was insulted and demanded he either give me a replacement or full refund. He agreed to give me a refund if i sent him the figure back. I packaged her up and sent her to the return address. Only after i had confirmed that i had sent her did the seller suddenly drop the bombshell that he has apparently moved house. I never got my money back.

However, my boyfriend bought me a replacement figure from a different seller. Thats it, i will have my figure and can just forget this ever happened right? WRONG. I few weeks later my replacement dwarf arrived. This is whati got

A headless dwarf! i couldnt believe it, this happened again?!As you can imagine i was very upset.Once again i messaged the seller straight away. This seller was far more reasonable and offred to send a replacement straight away free of charge. I paid her a little extra just to ensure extra packaging.I got to keep the broken figure, i knew my best friend wanted one, so i glued her head back on with some special repair glue my dad has. I was able to make her look good as new with the break completely undetectable and my friend was happy to take her. 🙂

And after waiting a few more weeks, at long last my 3rd lineage dwarf figure finally arrived, unbroken. xD

I’m sorry for the lack of figure review updates!

If i’m totally honest i’ve been addicted to a game and it has been taking up a lot of my time…but i’m getting bored of it now.

The good news is I have the Lingeage II dwarf figure on it’s way to me! I am looking forward to reviewing and taking some nice pictures of her. Here is the ptototype, i’m excited to see how she REALLY looks:

I have also taken aliking to taking photos of my figures, but also using photoshop to make those photos as beautiful as possible.I will try to pick out the nicest ones and post them for you all to see.

Dynasty Warriors 4 mini-figures Da Qiao & Xiao Qiao

A cute little one this time. I bought these figures so long ago I can’t quite rember, it was back when i started collecting figures and would settle for even small ones. These days though I rarely buy mini-figures, and have my old ones packed away somewhere, but even now I am a religious fan od Da Qiao. Though her Dynasty Warriors 4 costume is not really my favourite, I couldnt resisit buying a figure of her even if it was tiny, and ofcourse you can’t have one without the other! Well actually Da Qiao and Xiao Qiao can only be bought in a set, but I would have bought them both anyway. xD

Arent they a couple of cuties? These figures come packed in the same small box, accompained by a trading card which features both of the young Qiaos. They are posed in the same way as their original CG artwork from this game. Both of Da Qiaos fans and detachable while as the rest of her body is not, however in Xiao Qiaos case both of her fans,the bow located at the back of her obi, and both of her arms come apart.

Taking into concideration that this is a very very small figure, the detailing on the outfit and face is really impressive. Infact, if you compare a bootleg version of a figure of a larger scale, you can see that even the paint job on Da Qiao is much better. The most impressive part of the figure is the beautiful paint-job and the smoothness of her fans.

And now for the little Qiao. The only problem I had with this little one is the fact that she is actually quite difficult to put together believeit or not. I did find howevere that once she is put together she is pretty sturdy and won’t fall apart. The colouring is true to the character, vibrant and eye-catching. Similar to the Da Qiao version the fans are highly impressive in detail as is her clothing.

At the end of the day these figures are only for avid fans of either of the characters or the games which they are from, I doubt a figure collector would find much joy in purchasing these….unless ofcourse your target collection is mini-figures. I myself would pay an unending amount of money for a high wuality large scale version of these ladies!

Belldandy 1/8: Everybody has wings

Most anime fans will know of the incredibly popular Belldandy from the romantic comedy “Ah! My Goddess”.  I myself am a big fan of the anime, however I am yet to watch past the first series. Surprisingly I got this figure for a tiny £15 (Approx $25)!! I saw her in a small store, I had no clue she was worth so much more than that when I bought her on a whim, on eBay she comes in at around $90 – $100 or so. My figure is not a bootleg either, I guess it was just a lucky find! Though it may be financialy smart to sell her on I am going to keep her for now.

Here is a full length picture of my figure. Every small detail including her jewellery has been taken into consideration and been painted with the utmost care. Everything about this figure is just stunning, the paint-job impresses me the most simply because I cannot spot a single smudge! I’m not sure what Belldandy is meant to be doing in the pose, floating or something along those lines, but the angelic feel of this figure really complements the character. When it comes to Belldandy there are plenty of figures of her out there, but often they do not seem to do justice to the character in my opinion, this figure on the other hand certainly does! This is epically present in her hair and face, the colours staying true to the character the whole way through.

Sorry yet again for my appalling photography skills! Ahem..anyway, the face of this figure doesn’t leave anything to complain about. It is highly detailed, she has the perfect expression for the pose, and her eyes seem present and cheerful. I’m trying to find a con but to be honest I can’t seem to find one! The only thing I can complain about is the fact that she is quite small at only 1/8, but this does not compromise the quality of the figure!

Final Fantasy X 1/6 Scale Yuna

Finally! My new cable arrived, and I can now take pictures of my figures for reviews. I’m sorry about the long wait to anyone who has been checking in. As previously stated, I am going to review the Final Fantasy X Yuna statue by Kotobukiya. Unlike Rikku and Lulu, Yuna can be found for a pretty reasonable price, though you are very unlikely to find her in a trusted figure store and will have to resort to the likes of eBay. No need to worry though, there are no bootleg versions of this figure! I’m hoping to later provide you guys with some helpful tips on spotting bootleg figures and safe figure shopping on eBay.

A very accurate and beautiful representation of the beloved Final Fantasy Heroine. Like the other two figures she also has a plain black stand, she fit into it very eaily and there was no trouble in that front. Her staff is removable, but why would you want to remove it?! Paintwork is very accurate, and I can’t complain of any smudges or unprofessional-ism, one thing that does bother me though is the colour of her skirt. In-game it is a vibrant yet dark purple colour, on the figure it is extremely dark and is ALMOST a blackish colour. The detail present on her obi is one of the most beautiful things about this figure, the flowers lacing around the yellow sache is amazing!

Not the most impressive work of facial paintwork I must say, and it isn’t as detailed and well polished as Rikku and Lulu. I think this is because Tidus (Who is of pretty bad quality compared to the rest of the collection) and Yuna were the first made and released, as the collection went on the quality got higher. This is one of the reasons Lulu is so expensive as she was the last in the series. Saying this though there is nothing particularly horrible about Yunas face, it not that fantastic either, somewhere in the middle i’d say.

Overall score: 7.8/10

Phail!

I am waiting on a new USB cable arriving in the post for my camera! It is soo irritating because I can’t really review (& therefore update) my figures without it. I’m sorry to any who are following my blog, and don;t worry I have not abandoned it just yet! When my cable arrives I will update straight away, I was thinking along the lines of my 1/6 Yuna or Belldandy. 😀
So please keep checking in! I’m sure it wont be long now!
